High School Environmental Science Internship Opportunity
About the Program:
Whale Scout is excited to announce our new Seeds to Sky Internship Program, designed especially for high school students (or those of high school age) who are eager to gain real-world job experience in environmental science and conservation. This is an excellent opportunity to learn by doing and make a difference in your local community and ecosystems! Participants are required to commit to the entirety of the 10 week program.
Program Details:
- Position Type: Unpaid Internship
- Who Can Apply: High school students and youth of high school age (no experience required!)
- Schedule: 10 weeks, Wednesdays, 2:30 PM – 4:30 PM
- Location: Former Wayne Golf Course, Bothell WA (16721 96th Ave NE, Bothell, WA 98011)
- Dates: March 4th, 2026 – May 6th, 2026 (10 weeks)
- Application Deadline: February 20th, 2026
What You’ll Do:
Interns will get hands-on experience and job training in:
- Habitat restoration — help restore vital ecosystems for salmon and other local wildlife.
- Environmental education — help lead outreach activities that teach the community about conservation.
- Endangered species recovery — support local efforts to protect and recover endangered species.
- Water quality monitoring — Learn about water chemistry through real-world application
- Meet experts in the field — Guest speakers
Work Environment:
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions — rain, snow, or sunshine!
- Collaborate with a small team of other students.
- Must be comfortable lifting up to 30 pounds as part of restoration activities.
